The day before we moved across town, someone broke into my Jeep and stole my pipe bag and a couple tins of tobacco.
The Grabows and a Peterson Dunmore from the 1970's are gone. After all the hours that went into restoring these fine pipes, some punk is probably going to use them to smoke pot. A tragic end to a piece of pipe history.
They opened my cigar case and left it (and my tools in the back seat) alone. All they took were the pipes. I am so glad to be out of that neighborhood.
Will post some more once I get settled in and have some more estate pipes for restoring.

Same thing happened to me. Someone broke into my Mercedes and took my Grabow outta the glove and the faceplatet off my stereo, I was bummed about pipe!
I feel your pain man. Great blog! Keep it up. Coolectors of Drugstore variety pipes are rare...

What kind of a rat would steal a man's pipes. Who ever it is should be hung up by the lips. I have heard of a divorce because a wife thought she was doing a good job by boiling her husbands pipes. I have had pipes in my possesion for over 30 years and I would hate to lose them. This is a great blog. I am going to try your method for the stems. Some of mine are getting a little yellow. Keep up the good work.
